Food is a delightful treat of mine anytime, anywhere. I try my best to eat a variety of healthy foods but I backslide as any normal human would. I decided to try a 21 Day Sugar Detox to cleanse my body of toxins, inflammation and replenish energy levels as well. Not to mention it brightens your complexion too.
I tried a similar no processed sugar fast two years ago and made it 13 days…..I tried! *shrugs shoulders. This absolutely no sugar at all detox will be extremely difficult for me ….EVERYTHING has sugar in it, I can hear the Mac n Cheese calling me.
Honestly, I went into a sugar coma a couple of days before I started this detox. When I began the no “processed” sugar detox on my own I basically ate the same foods everyday for 13 days…..meh! I’ve gathered recipes from vegan cookbooks. The detox eliminates foods such as dairy, breads, oats, fruits and the list goes on. The detox does allow you to consume <1g of sugar in a single meal.
So I’m on day 2 and we, well I, boyfriend ain’t having any part of this nonsense he says, began with an avocado breakfast bowl. It’ll take me a minute to get used to eating avocados for breakfast instead of the usual turkey bacon, eggs, oatmeal or fruit.
But lunch…now lunch was on and poppin’! I basically had the same as breakfast but added hummus and tabouleh with blue corn tortilla chips (just 8 gives you less than 0.5g of sugar….yummers! This bowl is packed with lots of protein
Very simple recipe!
1 cup Red Quinoa
1 boiled Egg
1 cup of Tabouleh
1 cup of Hummus
Place all ingredients in a bowl and…Dig…In!
