The last three years have been great, I have connected with other moms, made new friends, live and socially.

There is always a but, how effective is my platform. I am always at a cross roads as to what content to post that will create a discussion. When you look at all the social media influencer pages everything is prim, proper, beautiful, even mystifying with bold pictures.

At first, I truly blogged in hopes of gaining followers and being labeled as an “influencer.” Securing the bag and gaining popularity was high on the list.

But now that my kids are growing, I cannot help but notice the world and the times we live in. To be a great parent is to make your mark, set paths and examples and legacy for your kids. The ultimate goal: for them to have and be better than what you are.

We are living in horrible times with that demon and his inept wife as president, yes I said it, I have no sympathy for her either. Women have often been just as treacherous as their racist and bigoted counterparts.

Being a racist is becoming popular. Hatred is becoming popular. Violence is popular. And it could happen to anyone at anytime.

No racism has always been there. We’ve just never seen it’s ugly face displayed as often as we see on TV.

I loathe him and all that his administration and followers stand for.

There is no safety, no peace, no kindness, no compassion, no tolerance and lastly there is no GOD in this administration.

Haven’t you noticed?

I have worked very hard to get to the point where I have a true voice and at this point in my life and my career I have a responsibility to do what’s best for the world and not what is most popular.’ – Beyonce

At this point in my life, at 40, popularity isn’t even a goal for me. Change is. Doing what is mandatory for my kids to thrive in America. I want to use this platform to shed light on the good in the world but also the worst of it.

But first, VOTE them out of office. I’m with Maxine Waters, if you see them in public, let them know how you feel. After all they work for us, our voices.

The youth of today began this millennial movement for change with the March for Our Lives movement to change gun laws.

I am delighted young people are aware and involved. Watch out!

I hope you’re registered because voting, not just in the presidential election, but primary elections will change this presidency. Vote out the senators, state representatives and lawmakers that do not have our best interests at heart. You can register and check to see if your registration is still valid here it only takes 30 seconds.

Do you know her?

Her name is Nia Wilson.

Say it with me.

Say her name.

Nia Wilson.

If you haven’t heard of her please click here to be informed. She was the victim of a horrible white supremaciat stabbing attack that took her life and left her sister critically injured.

I mean what in the fuck is going on.

Being racist is becoming popular. Hatred is popular. Violence is popular. And it could happen to anyone at anytime.

Yes, even you.

We have loads of work to do. It’s cool to post your beauty hacks, dopest outfits and places and people you have seen. Enjoy life, really enjoy it. But can you really be at peace when another’s life doesn’t matter, isn’t fully capable or allowed to enjoy the liberties and freedoms of the world.

But don’t forget life outside those squares is real. I hope you are using your voice for change as well. We can’t be distracted by what only makes us feel good. We have to always be affected by that lump I our throats, the drops of our stomach and tearing eyes to stay connected to each other I this world .

It’s really simple, the solution that is.

I know it cliche but it’s the truth. Because within love you find, peace, hope, faith and ACTION. Love is all of those things but most of all, it’s a verb.

Love is action.

So I will be at rallies this year, protest, signing petitions, making donations and whatever it takes to make change happen.

But until then I will enjoy babies and my family in my lifetime and pray this world will be different for #dembabies

Thin Privilege At Its Worst

I have taken a lot of time to read many new mom blogs, pregnancy journals and just viewing different maternity sites.  In my leisure time I do admit to browsing the latest celebrity news and I cant help but become bombarded with the newest celeb pregnancies and the weight they have gained.  It seems to me that nothing is off limits when you become famous, which I understand because now you live under a microscope and your every moved is watched and judged and placed on display for lookers such as myself to view.  However, I’m noticing more and more body-shaming towards expecting mothers and their changing bodies.

There used to be a time where you would dare not say an unpleasant word to a pregnant woman because….HEY she’s carrying life.  It is expected for weight gain, swollen ankles, waddling, intense hormonal changes and God forbid any pregnancy related medical issues such as gestational diabetes, preeclampsia or worse miscarriages to occur.  It’s the price we bear to give new life to the world.  Celebs in the likes of Beyonce, Jessica Simpson, Mariah Carey and the list goes on and on have taken some of these punches during their pregnancy. image

One celebrity in particular that the media loves to tear apart is Kim Kardashian West….oh you do know of her right?  She has gotten the worst of comments from her pregnancy with her first child with Kanye West, North West.

She’s been called all sorts of names that I shall not partake in that it made me wonder how can a woman in the limelight that she willingly committed to, go home and still remain positive and keep high self-esteem during a time when your body does the opposite of every hard effort you may or may not have tried to achieve.  She was recently interviewed saying

“I couldn’t help it, and everyone would say, “She can’t stop eating.” I delivered at 180, and they were like, “She’s 210 pounds. She’s getting dumped because she’s too fat” and all these ridiculous stories. It really took a toll after the fact, when I was losing weight. I gained 50 pounds, and it’s tough to get it off.”

Don’t get me wrong–I’m not the hugest Kim K fan but no woman deserves the hurling insults that she was given and she had severe medical issues throughout her pregnancy.  Now she’s on to pregnancy number two and I have to say she looks great.  I personally love pregnant women and the elderly a little plumper than the norm!!

This leads me to believe that there is a certain heir of being thin that makes people think that they can judge others.  The worst part is a lot of the comments were coming from men.. Seriously?! You’ve never and never will carry a baby and will never know what it is like to, so you have no room to judge.  I could never tell you what to do with your balls and frankly I could care less to place my opinions on them!  Only you know how to juggle those.  Thin is cool but not everyone chooses or desires to be size 2’s, 4’s, 6’s….10’s or 12’s for that matter or whatever thin is considered.  Hell, I’m perfectly comfortable with my weight gain to a size 12-14 during pregnancy……………yep I admitted it, no shame here! Fat shamers have several seats!!

Each time I was caught saying “Babe I feel huge” or “My arse is getting bigger” I am always combatted with “baby you’re pregnant and I don’t want to hear otherwise or anyone else say otherwise.”  So those types of  responses to my current insecurities answered my questions…..she had someone, Kanye, there that loved her enough to respect the unselfless obligation of carrying a child for not herself but the father as well.

We have to get to a place where we can accept not only others but ourselves as well. Placing judgement on others to make us feel better or just to be mean and nasty has no place in a positive aspiring place to dwell.  Maybe, if we didn’t show so much attention to these celebrities personal lives and just focus on the art that they create and signed up for these types of insensitive tones will lessen.  But who am I kidding that’s just me living in a fanatasy world.  Until then world…………I’m enjoying this slice of lemon loaf from Starbucks until my heart is content!  I will worry about the calorie count after delivery!

****the opinions expressed on the blog Brown Babies -n- Heels is exactly that, MY two cents!!!***

Creating My Birthing Plan… Have You??

Well today was another doctor’s appointment and all is well… Praises!! I absolutely LOVE my doctor’s office. I am now having visits every other week and the jitters are coming too. My nurse registered us for our delivery and we have a tour scheduled for next week. This all seems so surreal!! Although I am a bit curious about the unknowns of delivery, there is a surprising calm over me as well. I spend my time planning, that it keeps me at peace Continue reading “Creating My Birthing Plan… Have You??”
